Test Description

The number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table.

  1. Determines if the mirror sensors are capable of sensing mirror position changes.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Power Door Systems?

  1. Check to see that the mirror Curb View personalization function has been enabled.
  2. If the Curb View personalization function is not already enabled, enable it.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Shift the transmission into Reverse.

Does the mirror on the passenger front door tilt down?

  1. Install a scan tool
  2. Turn On the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With the mirror select switch, select the R. mirror.
  4. With the mirror position adjustment switch, move the passenger front door mirror.
  5. With the scan tool observe the Sensor parameters in the Data list of the Passenger Front Door module.

Did the Sensor values change?

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the door module harness connector(s) for the mirror.
  3. Measure the voltage at the mirror sensor supply pin on the door module.
  4. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.

Is the voltage indicated within the range given?

4.5-5.5 V

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the door module harness connector(s) for the mirror.
  3. Install a 3 Amp fused jumper between the mirror sensor supply pin and the sensor signal pins on the door module.
  4. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  5. With the scan tool, observe the sensor parameters.

Is the voltage indicated within the range given?

4.5-5.5 V

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Install a 3 Amp fused jumper between the mirror sensor return pin and the sensor signal pins on the door module.
  3. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  4. With the scan tool, observe the sensor parameters.

Is the voltage indicated within the range given?

0-0.5 V

Go to Step 7

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the outside rear view mirror. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the outside rear view mirror. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the inoperative outside rear view mirror. Refer to Power Window Motor Replacement .

Replace the door module of the inoperative mirror. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement - Front .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
