Did you review the Automatic Day-Night Mirror operation and perform the necessary inspections?

  1. Disconnect the inside rear view mirror harness connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the mirror reverse input and ground input.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Move the shift selector in and out of REVERSE.

Does the test lamp light with the PRNDL in REVERSE?

Connect a test lamp between the mirror input and ground input. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Place the shift selector in REVERSE.

Did the back-up lamps illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Test the reverse input circuit of the inside rear view mirror harness connector for a short to ground or an open circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Test the mirror input circuit for a short to ground or an open circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Test the inside rear view mirror ground circuit for a short to voltage or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the driver door module harness connector.
  3. Test the automatic day-night mirror input circuits for a short to ground or a short to voltage.

Inspect for poor connections at the rear view mirror harness connector.

Replace the rear view mirror. Refer to Inside Rearview Mirror Replacement .
