DEFINITION: This Test determines the cause of the inoperative door lock or locks and assumes that all DTCs have been diagnosed.

Did you perform A Diagnostic System Check - Power Door Systems?

Go to Step 2

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Disconnect the inoperative door lock actuator harness connector.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the inoperative door lock harness connector terminals.
  4. Turn ON the ignition.
  5. Using the scan tool, choose the suspect door lock in the Door Lock Test application of the Output Control application of the Special Functions in the driver door module (DDM) data list.
  6. Command the inoperative door lock to lock and unlock.

Does the test lamp flash once upon commanding LOCK and once upon commanding UNLOCK?

Go to Step 5

Test the inoperative door lock actuator circuits for an open, a short to ground, and shorts to each other. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Go to Step 8

Inspect for poor connection/terminal tension at the harness connector of the door module associated with the inoperative door lock. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections/terminal tension at the harness connector of the inoperative door lock actuator. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the inoperative door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement - Front or Door Control Module Replacement - Rear .

Replace the inoperative door lock actuator. Refer to Front Side Door Latch Replacement or Rear Side Door Latch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
