Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Door Systems?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Observe the power window switch parameters in the driver door module (DDM) data display, Inputs data, using the scan tool.
  3. Activate each power window switch.

Do all parameters change to the up, down, and for the front door window switches the express states?

Go to Step 10

Does the driver door window switch parameter indicate all four states (Idle, Up, Down, Express Dwn.)?

Go to Step 4

  1. Activate the passenger power window switches.
  2. Observe the Pass. Window Switch , Lt. Rear Window Sw., Rt. Rear Window Sw. parameters using the scan tool.

Do the parameters change to any state other than Idle?

Go to Step 5

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the passenger power window switch harness connector from the inoperative window switch.
  3. Install a fused jumper in the harness connector, between the switch ground and the signal circuit of the window state that did not respond.
  4. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.

Does the power window switch parameter indicate the missing state?

Go to Step 8

Test the ground circuit, of the inoperative switch, for an open circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 16

Test the signal circuits of the inoperative switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections/terminal tension at the inoperative power window switch harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the inoperative power window switch. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Switch Replacement or Front Door Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

  1. Choose each power window, in the Power Window Test application, of the Output Control application, of the Special Functions in the Driver Door Module data list using the scan tool.
  2. Command the power window to move up and down.

Does each power window move up and down when commanding UP and commanding DOWN?

Test the power window supply and ground circuits of the window(s) that do not move up and down. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test the power window motor circuits of the window(s) that do not move up and down for shorts to each other and to ground or opens. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the window motor for the windows that do not move up and down. Refer to Power Window Motor Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
