Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Place the interior lamp switch in the HI position.
  2. Open the rear compartment.
  3. Remove the bulb from the rear compartment courtesy lamp.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the power feed circuit of the rear compartment courtesy lamp bulb and a good ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Connect a test lamp between the signal feed circuit of the rear compartment courtesy lamp bulb and the rear compartment lid courtesy lamp control circuit.

Inspect for poor connections at the bulb of the rear compartment courtesy lamp. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the rear compartment courtesy lamp bulb. Refer to Rear Compartment Courtesy Lamp Replacement .

Repair the open or high resistance in the power feed circuit of the rear compartment courtesy lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Connect a test lamp between battery positive voltage (B+) and the rear compartment lid courtesy lamp switch ground circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the control circuit of the rear compartment courtesy lamp for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open or high resistance in the rear compartment courtesy lamp switch ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the connector of the rear compartment lid release actuator. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
