Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the lighting control module (LCM).
  3. Cover the ambient light sensor.
  4. Measure the resistance of the ambient light sensor input circuit at the LCM connector to a good ground.

Is the resistance greater than the specified value?

31K ohms

Expose the ambient light sensor to a bright incandescent light.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

23K ohms

  1. Connect a test lamp between the power feed circuit of the LCM at the LCM connector and a good ground.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the Park/Gear input circuit at the LCM connector and a good ground.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Place the gear selector in the PARK position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect a fused jumper from the battery positive voltage to the DRL Control/Headlamp Ground circuit at the LCM connector.

Do the high beam headlamps light at a reduced intensity?

Repair the high resistance, short to ground, or open in the DRL Control/Headlamp ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ambient light sensor signal circuit for high resistance, short to power, or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ambient light sensor ground circuit for high resistance, short to power, or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
