Do the high beam headlamps operate properly?

  1. Connect a test lamp between the high beam indicator control circuit at the lighting control module (LCM) and a good ground.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Turn ON the high beam headlamps.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the high beam indicator lamp bulb.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the high beam indicator control circuit and a good ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. Turn ON the high beam headlamps.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp between the high beam indicator control circuit and high beam indicator ground circuit.
  2. Turn ON the headlamps.
  3. Turn ON the high beam headlamps.

Test the high beam indicator control circuit for an open, high resistance, or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the high beam indicator ground circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the high beam indicator bulb connection. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the IP cluster connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
