Did you perform the HVAC Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. Select AUTO on the heater and A/C control.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the Pass HVAC Control parameter in the Heating and Air Conditioning data list.
  5. Adjust the passenger temperature control from full COOL to full WARM.

Does the Pass HVAC Control parameter change state?

Did any of the red or blue indicators illuminate?

--

Adjust the passenger temperature control from full COOL to full WARM.

Did an indicator illuminate for each switch position except neutral?

--

Go to Step 5

  1. Adjust the passenger temperature control to full WARM.
  2. Press the OFF switch on the heater and A/C control once.

Did all of the passenger temperature control indicators turn OFF?

--

System OK

Go to Step 8

  1. Adjust the passenger temperature control to full WARM.
  2. With a scan tool, command the Second Head LED Driver to 100%.

Did all of the red passenger temperature control indicators illuminate?

--

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the passenger temperature control.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Measure the voltage from the set temp bulbdrive circuit of the passenger temperature control to a good ground.
  5. With a scan tool, command the Second Head LED Driver to 100%.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

Test the set temp bulbdrive circuit of the passenger temperature control for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test the set temp bulbdrive circuit of the passenger temperature control for a short to ground or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the passenger temperature control for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the passenger temperature control. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs .

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the heater and A/C programmer. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the passenger temperature control. Refer to Control Assembly Replacement - Passenger .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
