Removal Procedure

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
  2. Remove the cover from the underhood electrical center.

  3. Object Number: 443867  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the positive battery cables nut (1) from the underhood electrical center.
  5. Disconnect the wiring harness clip from the accumulator cover and position the cables out of the way.

  6. Object Number: 419283  Size: SH
  7. Disconnect the evaporator hose from the accumulator cover.

  8. Object Number: 419284  Size: SH
  9. Remove the accumulator cover and the accumulator from the housing and position out of the way.

  11. Loosen the three screws retaining the underhood electrical center connectors.
  12. Disconnect the four cam lock connectors from the underhood electrical center and lift the assembly up from the base.

  14. Disconnect the engine harness connector and remove the underhood electrical center from the vehicle.

  15. Object Number: 471508  Size: SH
  16. Remove the underhood electrical center base nut and bolt.
  17. Remove the underhood electrical center base assembly.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the underhood electrical center base into the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 471508  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the underhood electrical center base nut and bolt.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nut and bolt to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  5. Connect the engine harness connector to the underhood electrical center.

  6. Object Number: 471509  Size: SH
  7. Connect the underhood electrical center connectors and tighten the three retaining bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 6.6 N·m (58 lb in).

  9. Install the underhood electrical center by pressing into the four retaining locks.

  10. Object Number: 419284  Size: SH
  11. Install the accumulator and the accumulator cover into the housing.
  12. Install the wiring harness into the clip in the accumulator cover and position the cables onto the stud.

  13. Object Number: 443867  Size: SH
  14. Install the positive battery cable nut (1) to the underhood electrical center.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 15 N·m (11 lb ft).

  16. Install the cover onto the underhood electrical center.

  17. Object Number: 419283  Size: SH
  18. Connect the evaporator hose to the accumulator cover.
  19. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
