Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 155741  Size: SH
  1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the rear wheels and tires. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Remove the exhaust system.
  4. Remove the springs. Refer to Coil Spring Insulators Replacement .
  5. Disconnect the brake calipers from the control arms.
  6. Remove the parking brake cable from the brake calipers.
  7. Loosen the braking cable and then disconnect the cable at the rear suspension support assembly.
  8. Remove the electrical connectors, which are attached to the support assembly, from the electrical harness.
  9. Support the rear suspension support assembly with a transmission jack.
  10. Remove three bolts per side of the vehicle, securing the support brackets to the body of the vehicle.
  11. Remove two front and two rear bolts. Lower the support assembly.
  12. Transfer necessary components.

Installation Procedure

  1. Support the rear suspension support assembly with a transmission jack.
  2. Raise the support assembly to the body of the vehicle.
  3. Install two rear and two front bolts at the mounts.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Align the support assembly at the gauge holes.
  6. Tighten

        • Tighten the front support assembly bolts to 191 N·m (141 lb ft).
        • Tighten the rear support assembly bolts to 191 N·m (141 lb ft).
  7. Install the brackets and bolts at the forward support assembly mounts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 86 N·m (63 lb ft).

  9. Install the electrical harness connectors to the connectors at the support assembly.
  10. Attach the parking brake cable at the support assembly.
  11. Connect the parking brake cable to the brake calipers.
  12. Install the brake calipers to the control arms. Refer to Rear Brake Caliper Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  13. Adjust the parking brake cable.
  14. Install the springs. Refer to Coil Spring Insulators Replacement .
  15. Install the exhaust system.
  16. Install the tires and wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the wheel nuts to 140 N·m (100 lb ft).

  18. Lower the vehicle.
