Service Air Bag, SIR Indicator on ( DTC B0012, B0013, B0019, B0020 )

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

A customer may comment the SIR Indicator is on and the Driver Information Center (DIC) displays SERVICE AIR BAG. One or more of the DTC listed below may be stored. The cause may be a poor connection in C216 (X216 for 2008 model year) (1), or the instrument panel wire harness is chaffing on the instrument panel carrier (2), near C207 and C216 (X207, X216), under the steering column.

B0012 Driver Frontal Deployment Loop Stage 1

B0013 Driver Frontal Deployment Loop Stage 2

B0019 Passenger Frontal Deployment Loop Stage 1

B0020 Passenger Frontal Deployment Loop Stage 2

Inspect the instrument panel wire harness under the steering column. Repair the wiring as necessary using procedures in Wiring Systems and Power Management- Diagnostic Information and Procedures.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
