Condition/Concern:

Attention: Service and Parts Managers

Starting Monday May 7th, 2007 GM will restrict battery Labor Operation N0110 for the first 250 miles on all customer owned 2006, 2007 and 2008 vehicles.

Recent part reviews indicated that the majority of the batteries being replaced have not been properly tested with the Midtronics battery tester. About 80% of batteries evaluated could have been recharged and returned to service.

Prior to replacing any batteries or contacting PQC, have technicians perform the proper diagnosis using a Midtronics battery tester. Technicians should record the complete seven digit Midtronic tester Code on the repair order. This code will be required when contacting the PQC and allows the agent to determine if the battery can be recharged.

Request for battery replacements when the Midtronics code indicates, good battery, good recharge, charge and retest, in vehicle, to low, and invalid test code will not be authorized. Technicians must retest and /or recharge the battery or provide a valid code. The CCA that was used during the test procedure will be compared with the proper CCA to insure a valid test was completed.

If the battery was replaced during a Cadillac road side service it will still be necessary to contact the PQC. The claim or file number from the roadside call will be required when requesting authorization. The PQC's phone number is 1-866-654-7654.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
