Normal Vehicle Use

These schedules are for vehicles that:

    • Carry passengers and cargo within recommended limits. These limits are listed on the vehicles tire loading information label located on the driver door.
    • Are driven on reasonable road surfaces within legal driving limits.
    • Use unleaded gasoline of the recommended type. For information on the proper type of fuel to use, refer to the Owner's Manual.

Selecting the Right Schedule

Determine which of the two schedules is right for your vehicle. Refer to the definitions of maintenance schedules below.

Important: Additional maintenance recommendations are in this subsection. Also refer to Owner Checks and Services , Periodic Maintenance Inspection .

Short Trip/City Maintenance Definition

Refer to Maintenance Schedule - Short Trip/City if any one of these conditions is true for your vehicle:

    • Most trips are less than 8 to 16 km (5 to 10 mi). This is particularly important when outside temperatures are below freezing.
    • Most trips include extensive idling such as frequent driving in stop-and-go traffic.
    • Most trips are through dusty areas.
    • A trailer is frequently towed, or a carrier is used on top of the vehicle.
    • If the vehicle is used for delivery service, police, taxi or other commercial application.

Long Trip/Highway Maintenance Definition

Refer to Maintenance Schedule - Long Trip/Highway only if none of the conditions from the Short Trip/City Maintenance Schedule is true.
