Did you perform the Head Up Display Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Adjust the head up display (HUD) dimmer switch to full intensity.

Is the HUD display visible?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  3. With the scan tool, perform the Display(s) Test in Head Up Display.

Do all of the segments on the HUD illuminate?

Test the ignition 3 voltage circuit for an open, a high resistance, or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Repairs.

Did you find and correct the condition?

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the HUD dimmer switch.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the ignition 3 voltage circuit of the HUD dimmer switch and the dimmer switch signal circuit.
  4. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the dimmer switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Repairs.

Test the dimmer switch signal circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Repairs.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the HUD module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the HUD dimmer switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
