Personalization Levels

Level 1 (Custom only)

The following features may be personalized as part of level 1 personalization:

    • Automatic door locks
    • Delayed locking
    • Perimeter lighting
    • Remote activation verification (RAV)

Level 2 (Custom and LTD)

The following features may be personalized as part of level 2 personalization:

    • Automatic door locks
    • Delayed locking
    • Driver ID greeting
    • Perimeter lighting
    • Perimeter lighting timer
    • Remote activation verification (RAV)
    • Window lock-out

Level 3 (LTD only)

The following features may be personalized as part of level 3 personalization:

    • Automatic door locks
    • Delayed locking
    • Driver ID greeting
    • Memory seat options
    • Parallel park assist
    • Perimeter lighting
    • Perimeter lighting timer
    • Remote activation verification (RAV)
    • Window lock-out

Modes of Operation

Automatic Door Locks

The following are the modes of operation for the automatic door locks feature:

    • Mode 0:
        The automatic door locks feature is disabled.
    • Mode 1:
        All of the doors lock when the vehicle is shifted out of PARK with the ignition ON.
    • Mode 2:
        All of the doors lock when the vehicle is shifted out of PARK with the ignition ON. Only the driver door unlocks when the vehicle is shifted into PARK.
    • Mode 3: (Default)
        All of the doors lock when the vehicle is shifted out of PARK with the ignition ON. All of the doors unlock when the vehicle is shifted into PARK.

Delayed Locking

The following are the modes of operation for the delayed locking feature:

    • On:
        All of the doors lock 5 seconds after the last door is closed when the lock switch is activated.
    • Off: (Default)
        The delayed locking feature is disabled.

Perimeter Lighting

The following are the modes of operation for the perimeter lighting feature:

    • On: (Default)
        The perimeter lights illuminate with a keyless entry transmitter signal.
    • Off:
        The perimeter lights do not illuminate with a keyless entry transmitter signal.

Remote Activation Verification

The following are the modes of operation for the remote activation verification feature:

    • Mode 1: (Default)
        The remote activation verification feature is disabled.
    • Mode 2:
        Only the exterior lamps flash.
    • Mode 3:
        Only the horn chirps.
    • Mode 4:
        The exterior lamps flash, and the horn chirps.

Passenger Window Lockout

The following are the modes of operation for the passenger window lockout feature:

    • Mode 0:
        Lock out rear windows only.
    • Mode 1: (Default)
        Lock out all of the passenger windows.

Memory Seats Programming

Perform the following actions in order to program the memory seats:

  1. Move the seat to the desired position.
  2. Press and hold the correct memory seat button for the driver until you hear two beeps.
  3. Move the seat to the desired EXIT position.
  4. Press and hold the EXIT button until you hear two beeps.
  5. Repeat steps 1 -- 4 for the other driver.

Programming Features on Vehicles Without DIC

Important: Transmitter 1 and transmitter 2 may be programmed separately for two different drivers. When programming the personalization features using the keyless entry transmitters, be sure to use the correct transmitter for the driver whose features are currently being programmed.

Enter Programming

Perform the following actions in order to enter programming:

  1. Turn the ignition to RUN.
  2. Place the vehicle in PARK.
  3. Close all of the doors.
  4. Depress and hold the driver side power door lock switch during the entire personalization programming session. The doors will lock to confirm program mode.

Automatic Door Locks

Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the automatic door locks:

  1. Press the LOCK button on the correct keyless entry transmitter. The vehicle will remain in the current mode and will react according to the current mode settings (see Automatic Door Lock modes above).
  2. Press the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter again in order to advance to the next mode. Again the vehicle will react according to the mode settings.
  3. Continue to press the LOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter until the desired mode is reached.

Delayed Locking

Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the delayed locking feature:

  1. Press the UNLOCK button on the correct keyless entry transmitter.
  2. The door locks signal the current mode. If the delayed locking feature is ON, the doors lock. If the delayed locking feature is OFF, the doors unlock.
  3. Press the UNLOCK button on the keyless entry transmitter again in order to advance to the next mode. The door locks lock or unlock to signal the mode change.

Remote Activation Verification

Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the remote activation verification feature:

  1. Press the rear compartment release button on the correct keyless entry transmitter. The vehicle will remain in the current mode, and the horn will chirp once.
  2. Press the rear compartment release button on the keyless entry transmitter again to advance to the next mode (see Remote Activation Verification modes above for mode descriptions). The horn will chirp once.
  3. Continue to press the rear compartment release button until the desired mode is reached.

Perimeter Lighting

Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the perimeter lighting:

  1. Press the panic button on the correct keyless entry transmitter.
  2. The horn signals the current mode. If the perimeter lighting feature is ON, the horn will chirp twice. If the perimeter lighting feature is OFF, the horn will chirp once.
  3. Press the panic button on the keyless entry transmitter again in order to advance to the next mode. The horn will chirp to signal the mode change.

Exit Programming

Any of the following events will cause the programming sequence to be terminated:

    • The ignition is moved from the RUN position.
    • The key is used to manually unlock the door, and the door is opened.
    • The driver side power door lock switch is released.
    • The programming time of 2 minutes expires.

Programming Features with the Driver Information Center (DIC)

Enter Programming

To enter programming with the DIC, perform the following actions:

  1. Turn the ignition to RUN.
  2. Place the vehicle in PARK.
  3. Press the ENG/MET button for 5 seconds.
  4. The DIC displays WELCOME TO BUICK OPTION FEATURE then PRESS ENG/MET TO SELECT OPTIONS then PRESS RESET TO GO TO NEXT CHOICE.
  5. The DIC then displays DRIVER #: 1 2. An arrow is shown next to the current driver.
  6. Press the ENG/MET button in order to change the driver # for this programming session.
  7. Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.

Automatic Door Locks

Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the automatic door locks:

  1. The DIC displays AUTO DOOR LOCKS: OFF/ON.
  2. Press the ENG/MET button in order to place the arrow before the desired choice.
  3. Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
  4. If the previous choice was AUTO DOOR LOCKS ON, the DIC displays UNLOCK: OFF/ON.
  5. Press the ENG/MET button in order to place the arrow before the desired choice.
  6. Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
  7. If the previous choice was UNLOCK ON, the DIC displays UNLOCK: KEY OFF/PARK.
  8. Press the ENG/MET button in order to place the arrow before the desired choice.
  9. Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
  10. The DIC displays DOOR TO UNLOCK: DRIVER/ALL.
  11. Press the ENG/MET button in order to place the arrow before the desired choice.
  12. Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.

Passenger Window Lock-Out

Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the passenger window lock-out feature:

  1. The DIC displays WINDOW LOCKOUT: REAR/R+PASS.
  2. Press the ENG/MET button in order to place the arrow before the desired choice.
  3. Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.

Remote Activation Verification

Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the remote activation verification feature:

  1. The DIC displays KEYLESS FEEDBACK: OFF/ON.
  2. Press the ENG/MET button in order to place the arrow before the desired choice.
  3. Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
  4. If the previous choice was KEYLESS FEEDBACK ON, the DIC displays LIGHTS FEEDBACK: OFF/ON.
  5. Press the ENG/MET button in order to place the arrow before the desired choice.
  6. Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
  7. The DIC displays HORN FEEDBACK: OFF/ON .
  8. Press the ENG/MET button in order to place the arrow before the desired choice.
  9. Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.

Delayed Locking

Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the delayed locking feature:

  1. The DIC displays DELAYED LOCKING: OFF/ON.
  2. Press the ENG/MET button in order to place the arrow before the desired choice.
  3. Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.

Perimeter Lighting

Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the perimeter lighting:

  1. The DIC displays PERIMETER LIGHTS: OFF/ON.
  2. Press the ENG/MET button in order to place the arrow before the desired choice.
  3. Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
  4. If the previous choice was PERIMETER LIGHTS ON, the DIC displays EXTERIOR LIGHTS TIMEOUT 5/10/15/20/25/30.
  5. Press the ENG/MET button in order to place the arrow before the desired choice.
  6. Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.

Memory Seats

Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the memory seat recall:

  1. The DIC displays SEAT RECALL: OFF/ON.
  2. Press the ENG/MET button in order to place the arrow before the desired choice.
  3. Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.
  4. If the last choice was SEAT RECALL ON, the DIC displays RECALL MEMORY POSITION: MEMORY/EXIT.
  5. Press the ENG/MET button in order to place the arrow before the desired choice.
  6. Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.

Parallel Park Assist

Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the parallel park assist feature:

  1. The DIC displays TILT MIRRORS: OFF/ON.
  2. Press the ENG/MET button in order to place the arrow before the desired choice.
  3. Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.

Driver ID

Continue with the following steps in order to personalize the driver ID:

  1. The DIC displays DRIVER ID: OFF/ON.
  2. Press the ENG/MET button in order to place the arrow before the desired choice.
  3. Press the RESET button in order to advance to the next option.

Exit Programming

When the programming is complete, OPTION FEATURE SELECTION DONE appears on the display. To exit programming before the list is complete, perform any of the following actions:

    • Press any of the following DIC buttons:
       - ODO/TRIP
       - FUEL INFO
       - GAGE INFO
    • Turn the key from the RUN position.

Programming Features with the Tech 2

To enter programming with the Tech 2 , perform the following actions:

  1. Install the scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  3. Select the correct vehicle and model year.
  4. Select Body.
  5. Select Personalization.

Driver ID:

Continue with the following steps in order to enter a new driver ID:

  1. Select Driver Information Center.
  2. Select Driver #1 or Driver #2.
  3. Select Driver #1 Name or Driver #2 Name (depending on your previous choice).
  4. Spell the ID with the Tech 2 keys.
  5. Select Save Options.
  6. Exit the menu.

Continue with the following steps in order to turn the driver ID on or off.

  1. Select Set Options.
  2. Select Driver #1 ID Displayed or Driver #2 ID Displayed.
  3. Highlight Driver #1 ID Display or Driver #2 ID Display (depending on your previous choice) and press the ENTER button to turn the selection ON or OFF. An asterisk appears when the feature is turned ON.
  4. Select Save Options.
  5. Exit the menu.

Delayed Locking

Continue with the following steps in order to program the delayed locking feature:

  1. Select Set Options.
  2. Select Driver #1 Delayed Locking or Driver #2 Delayed Locking.
  3. Highlight Delay Locking and press the ENTER button to turn the selection ON or OFF. An asterisk appears when the feature is ON.
  4. Select Save Options.
  5. Exit the menu.

Remote Activation Verification

Continue with the following steps in order to program the remote activation verification feature:

  1. Select Set Options.
  2. Select Driver #1 Activation Verification or Driver #2 Activation Verification.
  3. Highlight the desired mode from the following choices (see Remote Activation Verification modes above for mode descriptions):
  4. • Mode 1
    • Mode 2
    • Mode 3
    • Mode 4
  5. Press the ENTER button to turn the mode ON or OFF. (You must turn the current mode OFF before you can turn another one ON.)
  6. Select Save Options.
  7. Exit the menu.

Perimeter Lighting

Continue with the following steps in order to program the perimeter lighting feature:

  1. Select Set Options.
  2. Select Driver #1 Perimeter Lighting or Driver #2 Perimeter Lighting.
  3. Highlight Perimeter Lighting and press the ENTER button to turn it ON or OFF. An asterisk appears when it is ON.
  4. Select Save Options.
  5. Exit the menu.
  6. If the previous choice was perimeter lighting feature ON, select Driver #1 Perimeter Light Timer or Driver #2 Perimeter Light Timer.
  7. Choose the desired time from the following selections:
  8. • Delay 5 Seconds
    • Delay 10 Seconds
    • Delay 15 Seconds
    • Delay 20 Seconds
    • Delay 25 Seconds
    • Delay 30 Seconds
  9. Select Save Options.
  10. Exit the menu.

Passenger Window Lock-Out

Continue with the following steps in order to program the passenger window lock-out feature:

  1. Select Set Options.
  2. Select Driver #1 Pass. Window Lock-out or Driver #2 Pass. Window Lock-out.
  3. Highlight Include Front Pass. Window Lockout and press the ENTER button to turn the selection ON or OFF. An asterisk appears when the feature is ON.
  4. Select Save Options.
  5. Exit the menu.

Automatic Door Locks

Continue with the following steps in order to program the automatic door locks feature:

  1. Select Set Options.
  2. Select Driver #1 Automatic Door Lock Mode or Driver #2 Automatic Door Lock Mode.
  3. Highlight the desired mode from the following choices (see Automatic Door Lock modes above for mode descriptions):
  4. • Mode 0
    • Mode 1
    • Mode 2
    • Mode 3
    • Mode 4
    • Mode 5
  5. Press the ENTER button to turn the mode ON or OFF. (You must turn the current mode OFF before you can turn another one ON.)
  6. Select Save Options.
  7. Exit the menu.

Memory Seats

Continue with the following steps in order to program the memory seat recall:

  1. Select Set Options.
  2. Select Driver #1 Memory Recall or Driver #2 Memory Recall.
  3. Highlight the desired setting from the following choices:
  4. • Remote Entry Recall Driver Seat
    • Recall Exit on RKE Unlock
  5. Press the ENTER button to turn the setting ON or OFF. An asterisk appears when the feature is turned ON.
  6. Select Save Options.
  7. Exit the menu.

Parallel Park Assist

Continue with the following steps in order to program the parallel park assist feature:

  1. Select Set Options.
  2. Select Driver #1 Curb View or Driver #2 Curb View.
  3. Highlight Parallel Park Assist and press the ENTER button to turn the selection ON or OFF. An asterisk appears when the feature is ON.
  4. Select Save Options.
  5. Exit the menu.
