Service VME - Instrument Panel Itch / Creak - kw cover interior noise pillar

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described in the PI.

Owners may encounter an itch or creak when driving over rough roads. This noise is caused by the soft vinyl upper I/P cover to the hard plastic carrier. If the noise can be heard on the drivers side the noise may be created at the end of the carrier where the top cover and the plastic side panel meets near the "A" pillar. The second area of concern is between the woodgrain above the glove box and the upper I/P cover. Install a strip of sponge type foam padding between these areas to eliminate the interference between both surfaces.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
