Removal Procedure

Important: Recovering the refrigerant is not necessary to service the compressor mounting bracket.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  4. Remove the right wheelhouse extension. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
  5. Remove the lower air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement in Body Front End.
  6. Remove the A/C compressor front mounting nuts.
  7. Remove the A/C compressor rear mounting bolt.
  8. Remove the A/C compressor from the mounting bracket.

  9. Object Number: 247300  Size: SH
  10. Remove the A/C compressor mounting bracket retaining bolts (1,2).
  11. Remove the A/C compressor mounting bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 247300  Size: SH
  1. Install the A/C compressor mounting bracket.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the A/C compressor mounting bracket retaining bolts (1,2). Refer to the illustration for the proper torque sequence.
  4. Tighten

    1. Tighten the side bracket bolts (1) to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).
    2. Tighten the front bracket bolt (2) to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
  5. Install the A/C compressor.
  6. Install the front mounting nuts and the bolt.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  8. Install the rear bolt to the compressor.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical.
  12. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  13. Install the lower air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement in Body Front End.
  14. Install the right wheelhouse extension. Refer to Wheelhouse Panel Replacement in Body Front End.
