Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement Rear

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 201979  Size: MH
  1. Remove the wheel speed sensor connector (2).
  2. Remove the lower strut attaching nuts and bolts (4).
  3. Clean all dirt and debris from sensor housing/sensor interface area.
  4. Remove the mounting screws (3).
  5. Important: Read the following precautions:

       • Do not allow debris to enter the bearing when the sensor is removed.
       • Do not add lubricant to the bearing through the sensor housing opening. The bearing is lubricated for the life of the vehicle.
       • Do not clean grease from tooted sensor ring. Grease does not affect the sensor operation.

  6. Remove the sensor.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the mounting screws in spiral pattern (3).
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2.8 N·m (25 lb in)

  3. Install the lower strut attaching the nuts and bolts (4).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 190 N·m (140 lb ft.).

  5. Install the wheel speed sensor connector (2).
  6. Lubricate new sensor O-ring and install the sensor to the housing.
