Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the lower I/P trim or the sound insulator panel as needed for access to the lever assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel.
  2. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Restraints.

  3. Object Number: 153111  Size: SH
  4. Remove the front parking brake cable from the lever assembly after removing the retaining clip.

  5. Object Number: 153110  Size: SH
  6. Remove the electrical connector from the parking brake switch.

  7. Object Number: 153109  Size: SH
  8. Remove the lever assembly attaching nuts.
  9. Remove the lever assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 153109  Size: SH
  1. Install the lever assembly onto the dash panel studs.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the two nuts at the upper rear locations and the nut at lower front location.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  5. Install the electrical connector to the parking brake switch.

  6. Object Number: 153187  Size: SH
  7. Install the front parking brake cable at the lever assembly
  8. Install the cable retaining clip.
  9. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Restraints.
  10. Install the I/P lower trim or the sound insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel.
  11. Adjust the parking brake cable. Refer to Park Brake Cable Inspection .
