CONDENSATION INSIDE COMPOSITE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY

MODELS AFFECTED: 1987 AND 1988 LESABRE AND ELECTRA/PARK AVENUE

A condition may exist where condensation forms on the inside of the composite headlamp lens.

This condition is considered normal on a cool lens; however, after the headlamps have been on, this moisture should evaporate. The length of time for moisture evaporation may vary due to the heat generated by the headlamps, and air flow through the headlamp assembly from vehicle movement.

If a condition occurs where condensation remains, the vent tubes should be inspected for kinks or obstructions. It is essential that the vent tubes are in place and routed correctly (without kinks) for effective ventilation. Refer to Illustration.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
