Power Steering Cooler Pipe/Hose Replacement L26

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  2. Place a drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
  3. Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

  4. Object Number: 294335  Size: SH
  5. Remove the power steering cooler hose from the steering gear.

  6. Object Number: 284303  Size: SH
  7. Remove the power steering cooler hose from the power steering pump.
  8. Unclip the power steering cooler hose from any front frame retainers as needed.
  9. Remove the power steering cooler hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the power steering cooler hose to the vehicle.
  2. Clip the power steering cooler hose to any front frame retainers as needed.

  3. Object Number: 284303  Size: SH
  4. Install the power steering cooler hose to the power steering pump.
  5. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 294335  Size: SH
  6. Install the power steering cooler hose to the steering gear.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the fitting to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  8. Clean any excess fluid from the vehicle and remove the drain pans.
  9. Install the right front tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  10. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement.
  11. Fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Remove the front tire/wheel assemblies. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  2. Remove the right fender liner. Refer to Front Fender Liner Replacement.
  3. Lower the rear of the frame approximately 51 mm (2 in). Refer to Frame Replacement.
  4. Loosen the power steering gear bolts. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement.
  5. Fill and bleed the power steering system after the repair has been completed. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Power Steering Cooler Pipe

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

  1. Remove as much power steering fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir as possible.
  2. Place drain pans under the vehicle as needed.
  3. Disconnect the power steering cooler pipe from the power steering fluid reservoir.
  4. Disconnect all power steering cooler pipe retaining clips as needed with an appropriate tool. Replace any as needed.
  5. Disconnect the power steering cooler pipe fitting.
  6. After repairs, fill and bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding.

Tighten
27 N·m (20 lb ft)
