J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Clip Remover

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1283311  Size: SH
  1. Remove the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement .
  2. Remove the door weatherstrip from the pinch weld flange to expose the upper quarter trim panel.
  3. Remove the screw cover and screw in the top of the panel (1).
  4. Use J 38778 to disengage the push-in retainers and remove the trim panel.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the upper quarter trim panel into place.
  2. Install the push-in retainers to secure the trim panel (1).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the quarter upper panel screw in the top of the panel.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the quarter upper panel screw to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  6. Install the door weatherstrip onto the pinch weld flange.
  7. Install the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement .
