Checks

Cause

DEFINITION: A large difference in RPM is noted between the engine speed and the transmission input, turbine, speed in third or fourth gear, Drive or Manual Third range when the TCC is commanded On by the PCM.

Control Valve Body Assembly

    • The TCC PWM solenoid valve assembly (334) is stuck Off.
    • The TCC control valve (335) or the TCC regulator apply valve (327) is stuck or binding.
    • The #10 ball check valve (372) is missing or is mislocated.
    • The control valve body spacer plate gaskets assembly (396) are misassembled or contain incorrect parts.

Case Cover Assembly

The TCC blowoff ball valve (420B) or the spring (418) is damaged or is not seating.

Turbine Shaft Assembly

    • The turbine shaft O-ring seal (520) is damaged or is missing.
    • The turbine shaft oil seal rings (513, 519) are damaged or missing.
    • The turbine shaft (518) is damaged.

Drive Sprocket Support Assembly

    • The turbine shaft bushing (523) is worn or damaged.
    • Bearing damage

Torque Converter Assembly

    • The torque converter bushing is worn or damaged
    • The torque converter cover surface is damaged under lug thread(s) due to the flexplate bolt bottoms out
    • The torque converter is damaged internally
       - The TCC friction material is missing or damaged
       - The TCC plate is distorted or damaged
       - The torque converter internal O-ring seal is missing or damaged
