Door Ajar Indicator

The door ajar indicator system consists of the following components:

    • Body control module (BCM)
    • Door ajar switch each of the doors
    • Rear compartment lid ajar switch
    • Instrument panel cluster (IPC)

Each door lock contains a door ajar switch. The door ajar switches are an integral part of each door lock and are not serviced separately. The BCM supplies battery positive voltage to each door ajar switch. Ground for the driver door and left rear ajar switches is provided by G301. Ground for the right front, right rear passenger, and the rear compartment lid ajar switches is provided by G302. When the doors are closed, the ajar switch contacts of each door are open. When a vehicle door is ajar, the ajar switch contacts for that door are closed and the BCM interprets the flow of voltage as a discrete input from the door ajar switch. The BCM then sends the request to illuminate the corresponding door ajar indicator, through the class 2 serial data circuit to the IPC . The IPC illuminates the appropriate door ajar indicator.
