Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Position the oil drain pan under the engine oil drain plug.

  3. Object Number: 1401657  Size: SH

    Important: If the drain plug is damaged, do NOT reuse it. Replace with a NEW drain plug.

  4. Remove the engine oil drain plug.
  5. Remove the lower radiator air baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement.
  6. Remove the oil filter.

Installation Procedure

  1. Lightly oil the replacement oil filter gasket with clean oil and install the new oil filter.
  2. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the new oil filter. Refer to Maintenance Items in Maintenance and Lubrication.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the new oil filter to 3/4 to 1 full turn, after the oil filter gasket contacts the oil filter mounting surface.

  5. Install the engine oil drain plug.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the engine oil drain plug to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  7. Install the lower radiator air baffle and deflector. Refer to Radiator Air Lower Baffle and Deflector Replacement.
  8. Fill the engine with new engine oil. Refer to the following information in Maintenance and Lubrication.
