THIS SUPPLEMENT REVISES PRODUCT CAMPAIGN BULLETIN 3D02 ISSUED MARCH 1993. GENERAL MOTORS HAS DETERMINED THAT CERTAIN 1991-92 CHEVROLET TAXI VEHICLES (RPO 9C6) MAY ALSO EXHIBIT THE SUBJECT DEFECT. THESE VEHICLES ALONG WITH POLICE VEHICLES FROM PROVINCES NOT PREVIOUSLY INCLUDED WILL BE ADDED TO THE AFFECTED POPULATION. THE REVISED "VEHICLES INVOLVED" SECTION LISTS ALL THE TAXIS INVOLVED IN THIS CAMPAIGN.

General Motors of Canada Limited has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1991-92 Chevrolet Caprice Police Cars (SEO 9C1) Special Service Station Wagons (SEO 1A2) and Taxi Vehicles (RPO 9C6).

These vehicles may exhibit an electrical "ground out" condition between the 12 volt junction block and the metal inner fender skirt. This condition may cause a melted junction block, smoke, and burned underhood wiring, and may result in a disabled vehicle or a vehicle fire. This condition can occur while the vehicle is in operation, or with vehicle parked and the ignition in the "OFF" position.

To prevent the possibility of this condition occurring, dealers are to inspect junction blocks for corrosion and install a shielding insulator under the junction block or replace the junction block in severe corrosion cases.

NOTE: PLEASE CHECK DCS SCREEN 45 OR YOUR V.I.N. LISTING BEFORE PERFORMING CAMPAIGN TO ENSURE THAT THE VEHICLE IS AFFECTED. ONLY AFFECTED VIN'S WILL BE PAID.

This service will be provided for you at no charge.

If parts are required, ask your dealer for details regarding their availability. If parts are not in stock, they can be ordered before scheduling your service date.

This letter identifies your vehicle. Presentation of this letter to your dealer will assist their Service personnel in completing the necessary correction to your vehicle in the shortest possible time.
