  1. Ensure that the IP dimmer switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Lower the driver's window in order to prevent a lockout.
  4. Close all of the vehicle doors.
  5. Open and close the driver's door while observing the courtesy lights.

Do the courtesy lights turn ON with the driver's door open?

  1. Ensure that the IP dimmer switch is in the OFF position.
  2. Ensure that all of the vehicle doors are closed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch from the RUN position to the LOCK/OFF position.
  4. Remove the key from the ignition key cylinder while observing the courtesy lights.

Do the courtesy lights turn ON when removing the key from the ignition switch?

  1. Connect a Tech 2 scan tool to the Data Link Connector (DLC).
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Monitor the key in the switch input.

Does the Tech 2 scan tool indicate the key in input active using the ignition switch?

  1. Place the key in the ignition cylinder.
  2. Ensure that the ignition switch is in the LOCK position.
  3. Open and close the driver's door.

Does the BCM sound the key in the ignition reminder?

  1. Insert the key fully into the ignition switch.
  2. Use a test light in order to connect between the B+ and the BCM connector C1 terminal D1 by backprobing.

Does the test light illuminate?

Repair a poor connection or an open in circuit 80 or 1550.
