The dome lamp and the roof rail courtesy/reading lamps stay on under the following conditions:

    • All of the doors are closed.
    • The instrument panel (IP) dimmer switch is off.
    • None of the interior lighting modes are activated.

However, the inadvertent load (battery rundown) protection turns off the courtesy lights after 20 minutes.

Did you perform the Body Control Module (BCM) Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Ensure that the IP dimmer switch is off.
  2. Close all of the vehicle doors.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  4. Connect a Tech 2 scan tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  6. Use the Tech 2 scan tool in order to monitor the status of the THEATER DIM 2.

Does the Tech 2 scan tool display that the status of the THEATER DIM 2 is off?

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Disconnect the BCM connector C2 and connector C3.
  3. Use a J 39200 digital multimeter (DMM) in order to measure the resistance between the BCM harness connector C2 terminal A1 and ground.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

  1. Replace the BCM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
  2. After BCM replacement, refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

Has the repair been made?

  1. Reconnect the BCM connector C2 and connector C3.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Ensure that the IP dimmer switch is off.
  4. Close all of the vehicle doors.
  5. Observe the IP courtesy lamps and the door courtesy lamps.

Are the IP courtesy lamps and the door courtesy lamps off?

Repair a short to ground in circuit 157.

The malfunction is not present at this time. Refer to Interior Lights Circuit Description for more information regarding the operation of the courtesy lights.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Reinstall the connectors and the components that you removed.
