Engine Front Cover Installation N Car


    Object Number: 61819  Size: SH
  1. Install the engine front cover gasket.
  2. Apply sealer GM P/N United States 12346004, GM P/N Canada 10953480 or the equivalent to both sides of the lower tabs of the engine front cover gasket.

  3. Object Number: 660217  Size: SH
  4. Install the engine front cover.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the engine front cover bolts (3).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts (3) to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

  8. Install the engine front cover bolt (1).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt (1) to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

  10. Install the engine front cover bolts (2).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts (2) to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  12. Install the crankshaft position sensor wiring bracket.
  13. Install the crankshaft position sensor wiring bracket bolt.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the crankshaft position sensor wiring bracket bolt to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).

  1. Install the engine front cover gasket.
  2. Apply sealer GM P/N United States 12346004, GM P/N Canada 10953480 or equivalent to both sides of the lower tabs of the engine front cover gasket, and the engine front cover bolts.

  3. Object Number: 95865  Size: SH
  4. Install the engine front cover.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.   6. Install the engine front cover bolts (2).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the engine front cover bolts (2) to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

  8. Install the engine front cover bolts (3).
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the engine front cover bolts (3) to 55 N·m (41 lb ft).

  10. Install the engine front cover bolts (1).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the engine front cover bolts (1) to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  12. Install the crankshaft position sensor wiring bracket.
  13. Install the crankshaft position sensor wiring bracket bolt.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the crankshaft position sensor wiring bracket bolt to 40 N·m (30 lb ft).
