J 42059 Cigarette Lighter Socket Remover

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 691221  Size: SH
  1. Remove the lighter fuse. Refer to Electrical Center Identification Views in Wiring Systems.
  2. Remove the lighter element.
  3. Remove the lighter socket by placing one side of the T portion of J 42059 into the opening in the socket. Position the other side of the tool into the opposite opening. Pull the socket straight out.

  5. If the standard method fails to remove the receptacle, use the following alternate method:
  6. 4.1. Insert a small grinding tool with a cutoff wheel into the receptacle.
    4.2. Remove the plastic latches in the 3-mm (0.11-in) square windows.
    4.3. Use J 42059 as directed above to remove the receptacle.

  7. Remove J 42059 from the socket.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the socket.

  9. Object Number: 691214  Size: SH
  10. Remove the retainer.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 691209  Size: SH
  1. Route the wiring harness through the retainer.

  2. Object Number: 691201  Size: SH
  3. Install the retainer by pressing into place until fully seated.

  4. Object Number: 691217  Size: SH
  5. Connect the electrical connector to the socket.

  6. Object Number: 691196  Size: SH
  7. Align the socket to the to the retainer.

  8. Object Number: 690105  Size: SH
  9. Press the socket into place until fully seated.
  10. Install the lighter element.
  11. Install the cigarette lighter fuse. Refer to Electrical Center Identification Views in Wiring Systems.
  12. Inspect the lighter for proper operation.
