Did you perform the Tire Pressure Monitor Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the TIM Reset Switch parameter in the TIM data list.
  4. Press the RESET switch.

Does the scan tool display Pressed when the switch is pressed?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the reset switch signal circuit from the IP Fuse Block.
  3. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper wire between the reset switch signal circuit and a good ground.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. With a scan tool, observe the TIM Reset Switch parameter.

Does the scan tool display Pressed?

Go to Step 5

Test the reset switch signal circuit for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the TIM reset switch for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the TIM reset switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the Body Control Module (BCM). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the TIM reset switch. Refer to Instrument Panel Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
