Did you perform the Audible Warnings Diagnostic System Check?

Do any indicators illuminate when the chime sounds?

Go to Symptoms - Instrument Panel, Gages and Console

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Turn the headlamp switch to OFF.
  4. Open the driver door.

Does the chime sound?

Go to Step 4

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, perform the Chime Test in the BCM output controls.

Does the chime stop when you select Off?

Go to Step 5

With a scan tool, observe the LCM Lights On Chime parameter in the BCM Inputs data list.

Does the LCM Lights On Chime parameter display ON?

Go to Step 6

  1. Close the driver's door.
  2. With a scan tool, observe the Driver Door Switch parameter in the BCM Inputs data list.

Does the Driver Door Switch parameter display Closed?

Go to Step 8

Go to Courtesy Lamps Always On in Lighting Systems

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the BCM connector C3.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the exterior lamp off signal circuit and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 16

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Remove the key from the ignition.
  3. Disconnect the BCM connector C2.
  4. Connect a test lamp between the key in ignition signal circuit and battery positive voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the park lamp off signal circuit for an open, a high resistance, or a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the battery positive voltage circuit of the headlamp switch for an open or a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the key in ignition signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the headlamp switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the ignition key alarm switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
