There is excessive back pressure in the hoses.

2. Repair the hoses as needed. Refer to Power Steering Hoses Replacement .

There is excessive back pressure in the steering gear.

1. Inspect the steering gear for restrictions. Refer to Power Steering System Test Procedure.
2. Repair the steering gear as necessary. Refer to Steering Gear Replacement .

The pressure plate is scored.

1. Inspect the pressure plate for scores.
2. Replace the pressure plate as needed. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement or Power Steering Pump Replacement .

The thrust plate is scored.

1. Inspect the thrust plate for scores.
2. Replace the thrust plate as needed. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement or Power Steering Pump Replacement .

The rotor is scored.

1. Inspect the rotor for scores.
2. Replace the rotor as needed. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement or Power Steering Pump Replacement .

The pump ring is worn.

1. Inspect the pump ring.
2. Replace the pump ring as needed. Refer to Power Steering Pump Replacement or Power Steering Pump Replacement .
