GLASS TAILGATE ELECTRIC GRID TERMINAL PLATE REPLACEMENT

IN THE EVENT THAT A TERMINAL PLATE BECOMES DETACHED FROM THE REAR WINDOW OF A VEHICLE, IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO REPLACE THE GLASS ASSEMBLY. THE TERMINAL PLATE MAY BE REINSTALLED BY THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE: 1.LIGHTLY BUFF THE BUS BAR IN THE AREA TO BE REPAIRED, WITH FINE STEEL WOOL. 2.BRUSH A SMALL AMOUNT OF FLUX PASTE ON BUS BAR. 3.USING A 500 WATT SOLDERING IRON, TIN THE BACK OF THE TERMINAL PLATE AND THE APPROPRIATE AREA OF THE BUS BAR ON THE GLASS. CAUTION: STANDARD SHOP PRACTICES, PARTICULARLY EYE PROTECTION, SHOULD BE FOLLOWED DURING THESE OPERATIONS TO AVOID PERSONAL INJURY. 4.PLACE THE TERMINAL PLATE ON THE GLASS AND APPLY HEAT TO THE PLATE WITH THE SOLDERING IRON. 5.ONLY ENOUGH HEAT TO MELT SOLDER IS RECOMMENDED. CONTACT THE BUS BAR FOR AS SHORT A TIME AS POSSIBLE. REPLACEMENT GRID TERMINAL PLATES MAY BE OBTAINED FROM GENERAL MOTORS PARTS DEPARTMENT, UNDER PART NUMBER 727769.
